The Position

Caban Systems is seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our leadership team in Burlingame, CA. The Human Resources Generalist is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support with an entrepreneurial spirit and can-do mentality. We are a lean and agile team that is growing rapidly, and we’re looking to fill this dynamic role with someone that can deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

The role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing great internal communications, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. The HR position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our CEO, the HR Generalist seeks to develop integrated solutions.

The ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity and development of HR within the company.

We are an early-stage startup currently experiencing a phase of high growth. You will be asked to take on a myriad of tasks. We need someone that is flexible and is passionate about prioritizing time sensitive tasks. This is a great opportunity to get in with a burgeoning startup at the ground floor level. The individual in this role will be expected to be in the office 5 days/week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • A true hands-on approach as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement
  • Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement; Demonstrated experience driving processes improvements and specific skills
  • The ability to be comfortable with high volume workload and not be afraid to "roll up your sleeves"
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously - orientated on results
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced project management skills; ability to lead projects at a network level to influence and obtain buy-in, and then drive execution and achievement of the right results
  • Success in creating and driving effective and positive employee relations, retention and reward programs
  • Responsible for providing HR services to our site locations
  • Comfortable in being the point person for all employee performance and behavioral issues.
  • Occasionally supports with recruiting, as needed.
  • Conducts portions of new hire orientation; trains new employees as required on self-service HR tools.
  • Implements benefit plans and other corporate initiatives
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and employees on employee relations and other HR issues
  • Acts as a resource to local activities committee; may assist in planning employee events
  • Works on special projects in support of the HR organization

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interface effectively and establish trust with employees, managers, and groups at all levels in the company
  • Strong sense of ethics and confidentiality with regard to employee and business issues
  • Ability to build strong partnerships with line managers
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skills
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit plans
  • Training and group facilitation skills


  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Bilingual required (English/Spanish)
  • 2-3+ years human resource experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record for creating and implementing HR processes, policies and procedures
  • Resume that shows steady progression in HR Management for the last 3-5+ years.
  • Prior experience with a similar size company (50-100 employees)
