Caban Systems, a leader in the design and manufacture of software-enabled energy storage and management systems for the telecommunications industry, is seeking a VP of Infrastructure to lead the deployment and services team globally. The employee will provide technical, project and people support for daily operations, near-term execution, and long-term planning for global entities. Additionally, the employee will work with the international accounting team to complete the month end close timely and accurately. Support teams across Sales, Field Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing Operations to ensure successful project governance of operations and implementation of strategic initiatives.

This leader will need to be both a doer and delegator, be able to grow an experienced team capable of delivering day-to-day support and project management activities, while also providing strategic thought leadership and planning on technology solutions. Like all leaders at Caban, this position will be expected to not only lead but also dig in to help drive successful outcomes.


  • Manage all aspects of project deployments, including budgeting, resource planning, schedule and customer relationships.
  • Continually identify and recommend opportunities to grow revenue, reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
  • Ensure the integrity and operation of the critical infrastructure systems which are paramount to our operational reliability, where the goal is a 99.999% on-air performance.
  • Operate, maintain, and implement all critical and non-critical systems including installation and monitoring of the energy system and other system dashboards.
  • Review work tickets, staff productivity, budgets, and vendor relationships for compliance with Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Lead the incident management function, including team and process stewardship
  • Engage with customer support, ensuring a tight interlock between incident management and customer communications
  • Drive automation requirements into the reliability engineering teams, ensuring that operations’ needs are well-represented in the automation roadmaps
  • Develop, document and report on operational infrastructure KPIs
  • Create a closed-loop problem review process, ensuring that deficiencies identified during the problem review process are appropriately addressed
  • Create and curate the change management process, inclusive of scheduled maintenance, emergency break/fix activities, and deployments
  • Develop Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for maintenance and required project work.
  • Oversee all deployment projects and coordinate with the appropriate third-party engineers and contractors to execute such projects.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with business units on projects throughout the facility that utilize critical infrastructure systems.
  • Oversee and schedule off-hours work, either to cover major critical systems events such as system upgrades or cutovers or to cover major broadcast events.
  • Nurture relationships and maintain an open line of communication with utilities to manage/mitigate issues such as utility transients as well as coordinate utility preventative maintenance moratoriums, etc.

  • Demonstrable success in building scalable operations organizations, inclusive of infrastructure lifecycle processes, incident management & communications, and remediation activities
  • Has a historical bias toward automation as a problem remediation vector and as a velocity enabler
  • Lead the creation of monitoring and instrumentation needs, helping to ensure that the operations perspective is expressed in the development priorities of upstream tooling teams
  • Leadership of connectivity partnerships
  • Partner with engineering, ensuring that capacity and design revision requirements are prioritized and actioned
  • Recruit, hire and retain exceptional operations talent that wants to change the fundamental operating precepts of the internet.
  • Experience in energy and/or telecommunication infrastructure
  • Understanding of construction projects and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly articulate technical information to a variety of technical levels
  • Proven ability to develop and present material in a concise and effective manner.
  • Required 24/7 availability to address emergencies and other unforeseen issues.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • MBA is a plus
